2 movies I watched..

That I watched and forgot what day.

MOVIE 1: Momento
I was really confused. I couldn't fully appreciate it cuz the whole time I was trying to figure it out and it never happened.

MOVIE 2: You Again
Mmm thought it be funnier.

Caragedon Weekend with Cathy :) and a weekend of 1st

(Continuation blog...I swear I'm never going to catch up. I am determined today...)

SUNDAY 7/10

Didn't do much. Woke up and thought what to do what to do? I ate lunch and then watched some tv...then got tired and took a nap, then woke up and was like aww man now its kinda late to go out. I ended up going to Westwood, buying some Boba Loca and reading some scripts. Then the rest of the night I met up with Mr. Nhat and just caught up and hung with him and met some of the "O Staff". The End.

MONDAY 7/11

Started new internship and drove for the first time by myself in LA.

TUESDAY 7/12

After internship met up with Keh Anna at the Universal Lot and watched Larry Crowne for frees because she's an intern and they had free screenings. So THAT COUNTS AS MY MOVIE OF THE DAY. I honestly thought it was going to be more of a rom com, but the build up was I think a little slow, definitely the relationship between Julia Robert's character and Tom Hanks' character I didn't really feel it much until the end. It was a decent movie.

After we the movie we attempted to explore the lot at night but then I mean all we could see was the outside of the lots so eventually we left and walked along Universal City Walk. It was fun, with lots of lights and I got a Cinnabon and Keanna got Yogurtland and we sat, at and chatted mmm delicious fun :)

WEDNESDAY 7/13 / THURSDAY 7/14

Nothing much. Just worked

FRIDAY 7/15

Began to "CARMAGEDON" which was the LA event of the 405 being closed down for the weekend. This was pretty crazy and ridiculous. The 405 is a very prominent freeway in LA. Everyone in LA was preparing for the big close down, some talked about not driving at all, just being dormant for the whole weekend, some talked about it like it was the end of the world and a lot of offices including mine were giving people half days to prepare for the closing of the 405. (NOTE: Drove every day of Carmagedon and it wasn't bad at all...) SO I had Friday off. I woke u late, ate lunch, washed dishes and watched Suits. After for a long time of again trying to figure out what I could do in LA ended up...

1. Going to the Grove, walking about, enjoyed the sun and window shopped. I was told by a sales lady that I looked 15 when I informed her I was 21. This is something I have become accustomed to...
2. Kept walking and discovered a pretty neat Farmer's Market at the end of The Grove. I ordered a falaphel for dinner it was pretty yummy.
3. Driving back to the apartment passed a ROSS and decided to see if I could find a dress for my cousin's wedding. Bought: navy blue wedding dress, cute cute day dress and boots. Each item was a good deal and all under $20 each. Deciding the wedding dress was a toughy cuz I was debating between 2 others and the other two fit super nice as well... Before going to Ross also looked in Payless and K Mart.

SATURDAY 7/16

1. Watched HARRY POTTER with the apartment mate Amanda.

It was fun. The two of us barely get to hang out, so it was rare and nice. We woke up super early cuz we watched the 9:10 showing at Century City Mall theater so we could get the matinee price. It was my first time watching a movie in theaters in 3D. To be honest I could do without it, but Amanda wanted to watch it in 3D so I was down. The movie was good. I didn't read this book but as a movie I thought it was good. I feel like their acting was very genuine, the action was good and it really wrap everything up. SPOILERS: Super shocked and the sudden make out sesh btwn Ron and Hermione. They did a really good job making them like adult, it was freaky...The guys O MY Ron, Harry and Malfoy unbelievable good job hair and make up! The girl were pretty good too. It's amazing what the right hair and clothes can do to your age appearance. It's crazy though seriously the end of a century...with this last movie.

2. Ate lunch at URTH CAFE with the old roomie Cathy for the 1st time.

It was delicious! I ordered a Cafe Moca and it had a leaf design. I wanted a hello kitty but its ok haha. Can't be greedy. Cathy and I split a cesar salad and a prosciutto panini. The place was soo cute and quaint. Lovely lunch date. Cathy and I were surrounded by couples not even kidding every direction we looked.

3. After we went to SANTA MONICA, 3RD STREET PROMENADE

There we went to Sephora where I acted as Cathy's doll and she did my make up. It was fun. We were like little girls playing with make up, trying on different lipsticks and colors.

4. Drove to KTown ate at BOILING CRAB, another 1st.

Shoot...hanging with Cathy was like a big eating fest. It was great. No joke this girl knows how to eat GOOD. But I definitely like gained 5 pounds just from this weekend and spent a bunch. But its ok cuz I normally don't eat much or eat out so its fine. But YES finally got to eat the famous famous Boiling Crab was it was great. I am a seafood love and this was heaven! We ordered/shared 2 pounds of shrimp, 1 corn each and shared a basket of cajun fries. Got all down and dirty in our foods MMmm. After it, was we had a guaranteed food coma.

5. Went back to my apartment. I napped and Cathy watched a soccer game.

6. Picked up CHOCOLATE CAKE @ BOSTON NOVA and took it to go and ate it at Cathy's. It came with vanilla ice cream but it was ridiculous cuz it had melted completed and could not refreeze..the cake was to die for...it reminded us of the Matilda cake that Brucey at at the assembly.

7. Streamed HORRIBLE BOSSES wasn't as great as a movie as we thought. You didn't feel for the characters or hope for their success you just kept thinking WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID. Jamie Fox's character was HILARIOUS though "Mother Fuckin Jones" was his name and the anecdote was maybe one of the funnier moments in the movie. Cathy also painted my nails for my cousin's wedding during. They are so glam. They are shiney with gold flecs.

8. After I tried to stay up for a slumba party but I was soo exhausted and could not stay awake. Ending up sleeping. Cathy yo bed is COMFY!

SUNDAY 7/17

1. Went to TOAST (another first) with Cathy and we had brunch.

Running out of ways to say delicious and good. HAHA it was good. So I took Cathy's suggestion and ordered the stuffed french toast. It was stuffed with banana pudding and had toasted walnut. HOLY CRAP it was soo decadent and creamy and great. We also shared a side of fries which were like soo good. They were perfect crispyness.

2. Went to Ross and Beverly Center.

3. Went to Westside Pavillion (didn't realize it closed so early on Sunday) so left pretty soon after. Bought a lace bandeau, don't know if this will become a pointless buy. Hope not.

4. Went back to Cathy's, took a nap as she cooked dinna. We watched Criminal Minds which is a pretty good show, made me a little paranoid as I walked home. Cathy cooked gwa and tomato beef.

THE END OF "Cathy Eating Galore Old Roomie Hang Out Weekend!"

AND THE END of "continuous blogs"

Pinks, Promenade, Burbank, Fashion Dist., MOCA!

(continuation of CATCH UP BLOG)

THURSDAY 7/7

Internship. Ate with parents in Westwood. Celebrated Jon and Thomas's birthday and their apartment.

FRIDAY 7/8

Was told to leave at lunch of my internship and I was sad. People think I'm crazy cuz I want to stay late at my internship and don't like it when I have the day off but the way I see it is its one less day I have to really take advantage of this limited time internship. It's not a job that is unlimited in days (assuming you don't get fired) you know what I mean? I just want to take advantage of every moment I have at this internship and the resourced that I have available to me. Anyways so I left at like 2 cuz I said around a bit and then parents picked me up from work and we went to 3rd Street Promenade. Thus began the Friday night adventures with parents....

1. Went to 3rd Street Promenade, walked a bit. Mom was all into shopping but I was sooo tired and beat.
2. Went to Goodwill on 4th Street (still pooped)
3. Found a Mcdonald's and bought medium fries and shared a large caramel frapp with me dadds. MMM.
4. Went to Burbank Centennial celebration. The city was celebrating their 100th year as a city and the streets were closed off and they had lots of live bands around the corner, booths of company's handing out free stuff and this cool display of vintage cars and lastly FIREWORKS. Some details...
  • Live bands: literally one every corner. Parents ofc danced a bit.
  • For dinner: ate thai food it was pretty good and a good deal.
  • Car show: there was this awesome old cop car with a black doggie in it wearing silver sunglasses. It was soo cute. The owner had trained it to sit with its head leaning out the window. It was such a still and well behaved dog. My mom loved the dog but she had a hard time getting a pic of it cuz these kids kept petting it it, I was like alright already...Seriously thought the dog was like the cutest thing ever. I wish I had a dog like that so well behaved. My kinda dog.
  • Free things received: Ikea candy, Ikea bag clips, Burbank shopping bag
  • FIREWORKS: were sooo soo amazing and we were so close to it too. It was cool because at one point the fireworks were going off like crazy and I was convinced that it was the finale but it wasn't and then it kept going it was maybe 1 of the best that I've seen? Simply from being so close.
Overall the night was wonderful and a great hang out with the parents. Miss them so much and love them so much.

SATURDAY 7/9

What a day what a day. Here is what went down...

1. Woke up at 10am (nice...) and then walked to pick up rental car for parents that they would later drive home in later that night.
2. Drove to new work location.
3. Went to eat at Pink's for the very first time. O MY GAH it was good. I didn't fee like the wait was that long. We waited in line for like 30 min. I ordered I think a "Planet Hollywood" which was sooo mmm soo good. It consisted of the following ingredient: nacho cheese, tomatoes, spicy sausage, mushrooms and onions. OH GOODNESS, can you say heaven? It was $6.10 and you might think it's pricey for a hot dog but really it actually is pretty worth it because they pile on the ingredients and so its really filling and if you think about it equivalent to a big sandwich. So so good. Way to my heart is FOOD no lie no lie and other things too but that's another time another blog haha.
4. Went to Fashion district and made a the quickest in out trip EVER. Dad dropped us off and my mom and I went and bought spanks and then I bought finally a big bag! A fake Jimmy Choo black distressed bag. It's perfect for me, I really love it and it has a cute heart charm on it. $30 not bad. Dad picked us up and we thought he had just been driving around but actually he parked and even bought 2 hats himself. No lie fastest and most efficient visit to the fashion district, because you can really spend hours in this area.
5. Went to MOCA Geffen Contemporary. They currently have the art in the streets exhibit. All 3 of us got in for $5 each cuz we're students. Parents are students at city college (cuz they take dance classes). The exhibit didn't look very big but it took us 2.5 hrs to see the whole thing. It was really interesting. I especially loved the art work and artist that had a deeper meaning and symbolism involved in their art. I also enjoyed reading the history of street art and grafitti. Mom was eh kinda on it and dad said it was "interesting".
6. At at a Korean bbq restaurant.
7. Goodbye Parents! Love you!
7. Went out to a bar (2nd time) in Santa Monica with some past coworkers. Fun time and very classy and nice bar.

July 4th Weekend (give or take a couple of days)

SOOO BEHIND..Not even funny so here is the long catch up. Not going to be as detailed because probably already forgot a bunch but here's the gist.

THURSDAY 6/30

Internship.

AND...cleaned, packed and did laundry in anticipation to going home to SF for the weekend and parents upcoming visit and stay in LA.

FUNNY STORY: Did laundry and our manager is crazy so only allows laundry from 10 to 10 and locks the laundry rooms at 10pm. Didn't realize he was going to strictly enforce it and its 11pm my laundry is done drying so I go to the laundry room to get my 2 loads to fold and pack for my weekend trip home...unfortunately I find that it is LOCKED. O DAMN o damn I was thinking I want to fold my laundry and just thought thank goodness I don't have work tomorrow and I can get my laundry out at 10am to fold and pack. Funny thing is Connie and I tried our hand in lock picking. She looked up a youtube video on how to pick locks with bobby pins it was pretty ridiculous, we even tried using a credit card (technically my rite aid card) and a knife...guess we're just not fit to be thieves.

FRIDAY 7/1

Had the day off because it was the fourth of July weekend. Friend Sam came down to LA from Boston to surprise her bf Jon so spent the day with her and other HS friend Joel. We....

1. took the 20 Metro to Century City Mall
2. Ate at the food court, I got Ramen mmm..
3. Shopped in H&M and tried on a very pretty flowy dress that was perf for prom is only...it was $60.
4. Looked around in V Secret
5. Took the bus back

It was fun getting to hang out with the 2 of them and get to catch up with what was new with them.

THEN began my trip back home.. (for once I got to the airport waaay on time and I paid for it in boredom, don't think I'll do that again)

1. Got on flyaway at 6pm
2. Got to gate at 6:30
3. Found out flight was delayed until 9 (flight = 8:50pm)
4. Tried really hard to get wifi and sort of got it and tried to watch movie on Netflix total failure..I'd watch 5 minutes and wait for it to load 20 minutes (repeat cycle) I eventually gave up.
5. Slept
6. Got some Mcdonald's fries
7. Read a script
8. Finally got on flight

SATURDAY 7/2

Was my Momma's birthday. We went and ate at Porridge King it was pretty good. MMM pae dan. After we returned home and all I remember was napping and parents going out cuz they had plans and went out to dinner with friends as well which left me at home to entertain myself. I ended u watching 4 movies (my movie goal of 1 a day has soo been failing btw) The movies were..

MOVIES 1: Surrogates
Not very good. I think the concept/premise of the movie is very interesting. The idea of using robots and living through them to solve all problems of disease and crime and to help those who are physically handicapped. Felt like the movie ended way to abruptly and made me wondering now what...that's it? You're not going to show me how this turns out. Maybe it was meant to be a set up for a sequel? Don't know...but definitely thought that really took away from it. LOVE the idea though, of this futuristic world. Can you image? You can be anyone...I feel like it would and could harbor a lot of trust issues because you never really can trust what someone looks like or who they are or their age since your using a robot.

MOVIE 2: About a Boy
Watched this because Connie suggested it. I actually didn't really take to it. Can't quite put my finger on it why..I'm thinking maybe because I didn't really relate to the characters or sympathize for him. I don't know but I finished the movie thinking eh..

MOVIE 3: Love and Other Drug
DAMN this movie had lots of nudity but what did I expect right it's a called LOVE and other drugs well I mean love doesn't necessarily mean sex. But yea. I liked it. A nice love story with too really good looking leads. Jake Gyllenhaal, HOT.

MOVIE 4: I AM Number Four
For some reason the story kinda reminded me of Superman don't know why. It was cute. Actors good looking. Mm all I have to really say.

SUNDAY 7/3

During the day went to the Fillmore Jazz Festival with parents...

1. Walked around with momma to look for food. We got $6 garlic fries...pricey but what can you expect. It was very good though, very spicy. We also ordered Vietnamese sandwiches that were like $6 each and like true asians we talked about how you could get them at Lee's for half the price and they were better too.
2. Brought the food and sat and listened to the jazz singer and band sing.
3. Parents went to go dance while I walked along and explores Fillmore street. Looked at some venders/booths, shopped in Crossroads and Goodwill (wasn't successful).
4. Went into the Japan Center and got Sophie's Crepe mmmm delicious.
5. Met up with parents, saw them dance a bit

Later at night I hung out with friends to celebrate my 21st birthday....

1. Drove and met at Elephant Bar
2. Ordered and had the most delicious alcoholic drink thus far "jungle colada" pretty sure it had very little alcohol in it but it soo good, tasted like a smoothie and that's all that matters.
3. Shared a sampler and shrimp pasta with De and Steph.
4. Went to The Spot on Taravel with friends and ordered 3 bottles of Soju (strawberry, mango and yogurt) and took shots. I think I had about 9 or 10. Felt preeeetty hazy. We played 007 and 10 fingers.
5. Went to Erin's house we're we all chilled and I was soo sleepy from the alcohol I just napped as they all watched Titanic.
6. Slept over at Erin's with Rachel and Alyssa and it was one of the most productive sleepovers. By this time I woke up and was all sobered up. We did our nails and went around updating each other on all aspects of our lives. I really miss these girls and love it that we can meet up and have these nights and still be able to be in touch. LOVE THEM.
7. Slept at 4am and woke up at 12pm

MONDAY 7/4

July 4th. Spent it with the family celebrating my, my mom and cousins birthday. First time in our whole life we did dessert and presents before dinner. We had cupcakes and boston cream pie for dessert and then after went to an Italian restaurant in North Beach. Love my family and one thing I miss about not being the city during school and what not is not being able to do celebrate bday dinners with them all. My cousins are super adorbs cuz every time they see they always ask "hows college?" and "are you done with college yet?" super cute...

TUESDAY 7/5

Drove down all the way down to LA with Mom, Dad and Cathy. I drove the whole way...it wasn't too bad, back got a little tired but it was ok. I don't know if I'd be able to do it without my dad though I feel like he was coaching me and telling me what to look out for and what not. We left at 10 and got back at 5 cuz we stopped for lunch. We came back did a Costco shopping trip and 99 cents shopping trip too. We ate dinner and then parents were off to Pasadena to dance and I went off to a farewell party for a past coworkers and stopped by to say goodbye to Sam before she was off to Boston the next morning.

WEDNESDAY 7/6

Went to DT Disney with parents and Cathy. We ate at the House of Blues. It was pretty cool the menus were all wooden and the ceiling was covered of like paintings or something of all these famous blues singers. They were all from the south. The only one Cathy and I recognized was Ray Charles hahaha. The food was pretty yummy. I ordered "Chicken Fried Chicken" came with fried chicken with gravy, broccoli and mashed potato. After Cathy and I walked and talked in DT Disney as my parents went to dance to the live band with some Irvine friends of them. LOVED catching up with my first year roomie, so behind on her life. Something about me is I like to know what is going on with my friends life and even if we haven't talked in a while or haven't been in touch that doesn't mean I don't care and doesn't mean that I consider you less of a friend, it just means a longer and more in depth catch up :) Anyways after Cathy wanted to see my parents dance and once she did she could not keep saying "Your parents are soo cool" I had to keep telling her stop but she was really inspired haha by their dancing. I am really lucky though I have to say to have parents that are so active with their own lives. I'm happy that they have lives that aren't revolved just around me, they have fun on their own and go out and have dance friends and yes I do admit sometimes they are cooler than I am...

After DT Disney, drove back and at 12am surprised Thomas for his bday.

(ahh too ridiculous..i will continue this another time)

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Fat Sal's mmmmmm

FAT SAL's = deliciousness and surprisingly did not even give me the slightest food coma. Good day. Thanks ENAD for the treat.

I ordered a Fat Sal.

21st BIFDAY + Co Catch Up

SATURDAY 6/27

MY BIRTHDAY my birthday MY BIRTHDAY and twenty first to be exact!

Some people observe this about me but when it come to my birthday I LOVE it. I don't know why but I get really excited and happy. I run around yelling its my birthday its my birthday and then when it becomes closer to 12am on the 28th I always get really sad....I don't know why I get like this but I doubt this will change even as I get older.

Alright so here's went down on my birthday.....
  1. 11:30 walked over to Ralphs with roomie Connie and friend Steven.
  2. Got to RALPHS and bought raspberry Skyy Vodka
When we got there I had a really hard time deciding which bottle of alcohol I wanted to buy for my very first legal shot. I was deciding between 3: UV, Smirnoff and Skyy Vodka. I ended up choosing Raspberry Skyy Vodka because it was the prettiest bottle. Blue..

3. On our way back to our apartment I was PUSHED IN A SHOPPING CART that we found on the street.

I truly looked like a drunk person, even though I had yet taken a sip.

4. Got back and took a 1 shot with roomie Connie and neighbor. It smelled waaaaay better than it actually tasted.

5. Woke up and began a EPIC FAIL day...sort of. My plan was to call in to arrange an interview and then stay close to campus in case I received a call. So instead of going to MOCA I was going to go to HAMMER and FOWLER on campus...

Looked online and BOO HAMMER doesn't open on Monday's. I thought fine...I'll just go to campus and have a low key day, go to Fowler and then maybe read a bit. Got to Fowler and in front of me was a sign that said CLOSED. WHAT THE FREAK! GRRR I seriously walked and then grunted and muttered to myself.

6. So then decided I'd go and DONATED BLOOD.

Took about 2 hours can you believe? It felt good though, hadn't donated in a long time...It actually hurt the most this time don't know why. But it was all good. It was cool even got free portable bag cooler thing.

7. When back to apartment, cleaned a tiny then napped a bit and then talked on the phone a bit...
8. Went to PALOMINO with Connie all dressed up and pretty.

We shared Potato Gorgonzola (had blue cheese and some yummy sauce on it), Crispy Calamari and and mushroom pizza. It was hella delicious and greasy like crazy mmmmmmmm. I also ordered a Candied Apply Drop, or something that that. It was a cocktail. It made my face really tingly and warm though and I felt super affected by it.

9. Got back to my apartment and was SURPRISED with friends, cake, ice cream and gifts.

It was wonderful..I've never been surprised for my birthday ever. EVER. I was supposedly easily lied to. Connie told asked me french vanilla or vanilla bean and I answered obliviously. She told me she had to get back to the apartment by 9 to sign up for classes and I didn't even realize enrollment times didn't even start yet for second pass. I saw Steven's shoes at our apartment, asked why they were there and was told he left them and believed it without a doubt. It was soo great...THANK YOU CONNIE! And thank you to the friends that came to wish and celebrate a happy birthday with me. It was a really great way to celebrate my 21st :) There was red velvet cake, homemade cupcakes from Cathy and vanilla ice cream.

THE END OF MY 21ST BIRTHDAY

MONDAY 6/28

Not much I had a super duper quick catch up with my CO SHAMU!!! In her car as she was double parked across from my apartment haha.

I am soo glad to have her as a friend. She seriously is such a good person. I feel like she has such a pure heart and is soo soo philanthropic. She brought me a McCafe, the new lemonade-y one, soo delicious! Hearing about how passionate she is about camp and about her new job makes me really happy. I'm so excited for you and your new job. Your going to love it and I can't wait to hear about it next time we meet :) Love you CO!

a big whoppin FREE LA adventure day :)

FRIDAY 5/24

Nothing much. Didn't watch a movie. Internship as always good. Read scripts and also really starting to feel comfortable at the internship and with the people I work with.

SATURDAY 5/25

Great great day today! Yet another LA adventure with apartment mate CONNIE! This is what we did....

1. Took two buses the 2 and then the metro red line to OLVERA STREET.
- It was a lovely street. Filled with small stores that sold jewelry, candy and toys. Lots of knick knacks. A lot of hand made goods as well. Didn't take us long to walk through. After a while all the little shops sold the same thing, made us wonder how any of them are able to sell anything when they all sell the same thing and at very similar prices.
2. While walking along Olvera Street there was a small exhibit of a Stockton's Adobe. My history is not the best so not exactly sure how it fits in or that much of the historical background of Calforn...i forgot. Anyways thank goodness I was with Connie because she's pretty knowledgeable about history was able to answer my questions. It was still cool to walk through and see the different rooms of the adobe, the bedroom, living room, child's room and outdoor kitchen.
3. Walked then stumbled along OLD FIREHOUSE.
- It was they very first says the lady who was there. First in LA or in the US do not know..but it was pretty cool. On the walls there were the different styles of helmets used by the fire fighters. In the center of the room was the waaaay old "fire truck". It was more of a wagon thing that was pulled by 2 horses. Pretty neat. The place was closing in 10 minutes so we also got there just in time.
4. Walked some more, took some pictures then came across CHINESE HISTORICAL MUSEUM. It was pretty cool. There was a section on Angel Island and on the two floors above a mini art exhibit compiled of art from street artist and their take on immigration. A lot of the pieces were really interesting and I enjoyed expanding my horizons both in terms of art and about immigration, which I have to admit I don't know much about. Its really unfortunate how unaware I am of my surroundings. I need to fix that...and be more culturally aware.
6. Walk to LITTLE TOKYO
- There Connie and I got thai iced tea, delicious...Then walked and heard some Taiko drumming and watched for a sec. Then we went into Nijiyah where we bought snacks! I got shrimp chips, not the spirally ones but the ones that are chip shaped you know what I mean. MMMM. Then we looked in about 3 stores and just explored. One store was like a Daiso but more expensive, they had stationary, makeup, stuffed animals and kitchen ware. We looked in a Sanrio one and some other one. I can't remember but in many of them we were prompted/drawn in by big fluffy stuffed animals and I would very much liked to have owned but do not have the money to spend on them...
7. Back home on the Metro Purple line and then on the 720

TOTAL ADVENTURE COST: $12.11
$6 round trip bus fare
$4.12 thai tea
$1.99 shrimp chips
basically everything was free...love it!

A very eventful day :)

MOVIE: No Strings Attached
Funny movie and much more rom com then I expected. Some lines that had me dying...
- It's like a crime scene down there (referring to having a period)
- BOO! Here's my dick.
- Did you make me a period mix tape? (that is pretty awesome and hilarious)
- Yesterday I pulled a penis out of a Vitamin Water. I think we're good on penis'.
- We're all doctors we see hundreds of penis' a day. I see a thousand.

Can't wait to see Friends with Benefits and see how it compares.

PEACE yall!

yay for learning to be a CRITICAL READER!

alright alright alright no movie AGAIN i know i know its actually kinda harder to squeeze because basically its come back from work then make/eat dinner than after gotta start movie soon if i want to sleep at a decent time before work next day which means cant do anything else the rest of the night.

SO what I did today.

Internship was a good day. I would say very productive. Wasn't actually given projects or assignments, but what I did was started to read a lot. Read through bunch of power points got an idea of what they look for and how they go about developing and choosing shows. Also read through two scripts and I think I'm getting better at being critical when reading, maybe tv shows are easier because they are shorter less to try and comprehend and figure out? But yea really good practice for me. Read 1 script and LOVED IT so badly...the girl like described me TO A TEE not even funny. The funny thing was the girl's character was a dork, actually the biggest dork in the school. But totally cool because I've embraced that side of me and think it makes me uniquely endearing haha. Don't know if others would agree. ANYWAYS I would say parts that made me laugh so hard, but feel I should keep it on the safe side and keep it hush hush. Also was assigned by supervisor/boss to begin and do my first script coverage. At first was very scared because I wanted to do a good job and have it be perfect....I even brought it home with me and that's what I worked on. Wasn't too bad, I think the next one I do will be easier. We'll see after I get feedback.

TV SHOW: SYTYCD
DANG IT lost the tapper dude, he was one of the cute ones...OS WELLS.

Random. Listening to T.I. Whatever You Like on Pandora right now and some of the lyrics actually the chorus is quite inappropriate and very graphic...

TOOTLES for tonight.

Sin Nombre

Internship.

MOVIE: Sin Nombre
Yes, its a movie about gangs and about immigration, but from my perspective its mostly about perseverance and the drive to achieve a goal, a dream and a better life. That's it.

Hollywood Adventures

Today (which means Tuesday because I always post my blogs at midnight) I went to Hollywood, interviewed for an internship then....explored and had a Hollywood adventure.

Here's what I did... (maybe one of these days I'll add photos don't know)
1. When to H&M and bought a dress...could not resist dang red sale signs. That's it though.
2. Used Baja Fresh's bathroom then left so they wouldn't realize I wasn't a customer...
3. Walked through Forever
4. Went to Grauman's Theater (aka Chinese Theater) took bunch of pictures of the building and then a bunch of the cement foot/hand prints of celebs that I knew here were a few highlights: Harry Potter cast, Shirley Temple (tiniest feet ever), Star Trek cast (not sure which series), Robin Williams, Donald Duck...
5. Walk through Kodak theater. Took pictures the movies that won best picture through out the years. Took pictures of the building. Took pictures of the water fountainy thing.
6. When through Sephora to find lip stain, no success.
7. When outside sad down ate my home made sandwhich and chocolate milk.
8. Walk down the street and took pictures of: Ripley's Believe or Not, Hulk man, billboard of new Winnie the Pooh movie, parrot on guys shoulder...
9. Stopped by the outside of the wax museum to take a few pics and look at the free wax figures they had outside. There was one "anamatronic one" that I went up to. I didn't recognize the "famous person" so I went to read the plaque when BAM its a real person and he scared the living bajeezus out of me seriously screamed and jumped back so loud and far. Lucky for me there were lots of people around to witness this. Ended up taking a picture with the dude.
10. Thing that was the end..well walked to the bus stop and took a picture of Hollywood High School.
11. Came back and relaxed, signed up for classes and yup.

NO movie tonight...ok I'm kind of failing right now on this movie thing but no worries no worries lots of summer to go.

Grammy Museum

BEHIND as always...

SUNDAY 6/19

Went to the Grammy Museum with Connie. SUPER fun adventure! Here is the outline of the adventure...
- 1.5 bus ride
- Free visit to the Grammy Museum
- 2.5 hrs to go through all 4 floors of the museum
- Got some gelato
- 2 hrs trying to find the 720 bus stop and lots of walking

Bus ride was HELLA long.

Grammy Museum was fun especially since it was free. There was original copies of lyrics, audios to listen to, costumes that artist wore and booths and toys to play with. Connie and I mixed tracks, rapped and other technically things it was quite fun and entertaining. Our rapping was DA BOMB and her harmony in the singing booth was pretty awesome as well. "Oh. HU-MAN". Ooo another highlight was when Connie and I were trying to listen and read about the history of sub genres of music and it was a touch screen interactive pad. We tried to choose genres to listen to but along came little kiddies who thought it was a toy and just key touchin away and Connie even tried to be quick and choose the genre before the kid but it didn't matter because the little kid would then just touch another genre and we'd be listen to some other music.

Gelato was hella good hella hella good and creamy and caramely.

Trying to find the 720 was sort of ridiculous. We walked around in a bunch of circles, asked 2 bus drivers, 1 cop, 3 randoms until we finally found the bus stop. BUT not before we saw the 720 pass us as I yelled..."WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" Yea...fun times fun times. Feet were killing by the end. Oh also crazy before 720 took 45 minutes...so much shorter than the 2...boo.

MOVIE: The Notebook
Yes a repeat...but it was worth it to introduce it to a dude.

MONDAY 6/20

Didn't do much...woke u at 2... :D

Finally made chex goodies with pnut butter, chocolate, powdered sugar, butter and "crispy hexagons".

That's all that really happened today.

No movie.

Movies!

WAAY behind so here's what happened...

FRIDAY 6/17

Internship was yet another really busy day and again I loved it. I'm learning so much and I feel like they are starting to see my work ethic and warming up to me which is so great. Can't wait for Wednesday to come again to see what I'll be doing. I was even treated lunch by one of the employees which was awesome and such a nice gesture. I had a teriyaki burger and it was deliciously messy.

Friend crashed at my apartment which was cool. We watched...

MOVIE: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Finally saw this movie. Didn't think I was gonna make it all the way through because I was super exhausted and the movie is just about 3 hours long but I made it and I really liked the movie. Yes it was long but I think it made good use of the 3 hours to really build the characters and tell the life of Benjamin button. All the character building made you really invested in the characters and sad and sympathetic when he goes from youth to senility. Such an interesting love story. It's really amazing whenever you see movies where love is so strong and so everlasting, really makes you or rather me day dream. Anyways liked the movie!

SATURDAY 6/18

What a day full of taking the bus. So first I went to see a free screen of Super 8 on the Paramount lot which was amazing! It was super far though. I waited for the bus to come and it took I swear at least 30 minutes, bus took 1 hour and ended up missing the 2:30 showing because I arrived at 3. Then the inform me that I would have to wait for the 5:30 showing and could not be let onto the lot and theater until 4:30....sucky thing was there was nothing around there so I literally sat at a bus stop for 1.5 hours and read "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom" which is quite good so far. Finally saw the movie and the theater was soo spacious and the chairs were the comfiest chairs ever. Also finally got to meet my fellow intern which was great.

AFTER immediately I hopped onto the next two buses and got to the Korean BBQ restaurant where I ate a billion pounds of meat and soaked up all the smoke in the world in my hair and clothes. SO GOOD and wonderful getting to see and chat with past coworkers.

Back home to watch a movie here is what I got to say about them..

MOVIE:
Super 8
Really liked it. Characters were adorable. Great mix between suspense and touchy feeliness. So many poppy outy moments, o mai. I also cried a bunch. Don't feel like saying anymore but thought it was good movie and was glad I decided to watch it. There was so much hype on it that I seriously felt obligated to watch it just so that I could contribute in conversations.

Exit Through the Gift Shop
Second movie of the night, a doc about street art. Really interesting. I think it so awesome that there are artist out there that take the risk to post up their art all around cities, for the simple joy of expressing their thoughts or informing others of issues. Which is why...I thought MBW was such a poser because street artist to their core aren't about the money, that's not why they do it. I just felt like MBW was trying to get the moolah and also was trying just too hard to justify his art work. I liked it exposed me to Banksy, Obey and Space Invaders.

cra ZAY work DAY + 2 dinners for 1

Internship was CRAZY busy today and I L-O-V-E-D it! People were giving me work here and there and for once I actually felt like it was substantial work. Not that I don't learn from every task that I'm given, because I do, even the smallest task, but it was just really great to be given a project that had some weight to it you know? Also good tip about life perspective is to realize that every thing has value in it. Everything. And once you realize that, not only are you more content, but also you grow more (because your more willing and open). Take for example making copies, most dull task every right? Anyone can do it, it really doesn't take too much skill once maybe you figure out the machine once or twice. BUT you can actually learn a lot from helping make copies because if are observant of what you are being asked to copy, you are given a looking glass into the specific job or department or person. Most things done have a purpose, thus you can learn a lot just by observing what others do or ask you to do. Yes yes.

oOoo cooked 2 dinners today! haha spaghetti for lunch and future dinners AND a really delicious steak with marinated mushrooms mmmm soo good soo good.

TV SHOW: So You Think You Can Dance
Caught up I think finally...which means soon I can start my goal of movie a day.

Feh-thas, Tiger Mom and Catsup

I'm a day behind so here we go...

TUESDAY 6/14

Had the quickest interview of my life. Do not know if that is a good or bad thing, I will just have to wait and see.

Also go FEATHER EXTENSION. Long story but they are sort of placed in an awk part of my head and also they were not secured way at the scalp which also makes me a bit upset because they last even shorter now...*sigh* BUT still YAY. Colors = cream with stripey pattern, cream, dark turquoise and orange red.

Also started reading "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom" IT IS GREAT!! It's an autobio about a mom and how she raised her children the "Chinese way". Premise is reasons for why Chinese children are so stereotypically successful and how they differ from Western children and their up bringing. It's actually extremely hilarious, not that I can related, although I am Chinese my parents are not "Chinese parents". Someone really needs to make a sitcom out of this like no joke. ALL YOU ASPIRING ENTERTAINMENT WRITERS someone read this book and write up a sample script and pitch etc etc based on this book. It would be great! I think it'd work better as a tv show then a feature just because I can see how like each lesson or point she makes could be the basis for an episode. I see it being similar to "How I Met Your Mother". There's a great quote she says that asian kids are only allowed to do activities that can win awards and those awards must be gold. Imma be quoting the book from time to time but it's really a fun and quick read, at least so far.

TV SHOW: So You Think You Can Dance / The Voice
Amazingly I watched these shows at the same time. When I The Voice was on commercial break I watched SYTYCD and when it came back I paused SYTYCD. It was actually an amazing multitask feat if I must say myself (not really but, you know..). Anyways few comments. Christina seriously lately has been like showing sooo much boobage and I really feel like she needs to like put some away/cover it. I just feel like she is going to pop out any moment. Few favs of the night were Vicci and Casey Weston. Also love love love Dia and glad that she was saved. SYTYCD not much to say except oh "stripper from SF auditions" was strange...not only did she have 1 tooth missing but spoke very eerily and I don't know but just something about her was very off putting to me.

Did watch a movie because just so tired and I think I probably won't completely start the movie a day til I'm caught up on all my shows.

Some random comments though about movies...SUPER 8! Comments anyone for those who have seen it? The hype is soo huge for this movie I cannot believe it. I have heard nothing but rave reviews and I feel obligated to watch just so that I can socially be aware and be in the know. But I watched a trailer and it seems a bit scary. Like it's sci fi-ish, thriller and mystery mixed genre. I don't know but I guess I'll just have to find out myself.

TODAY (WEDNEDAY 6/15)

Internship - got my mac on today. So not used to using macs but slowly learned. It was good and learned how to use iMovie which was fun.

MEANIE big blue bus driver lady...made me pay $1 too tired to elaborate.

In n Out - with past coworkers to say good by to our lovely foreign gal from Germany! BYE!!! We'll miss you and come back to us soon.

LEARNED that Ketchup = most likely Hein's commercialized and now socially adopted way of spelling the condiment that is tomato sauce. Originally it was spelled catsup and I guess still is by other companies or areas? Who knows all I have to say is I was MIND BLOWN when I wikied this almost positive that my friend was incorrect to have believed there were two spellings, but I guess there is...It's crazy look it u yall!

And that is it no movies or shows tonight I'm just popped...

Photo-SLEEP!

Title = my attempt at being clever..hopefully you'll get it as you continue to read on..

Learned (very basically) how to use Photoshop. I don't know if I retained anything, but hopefully I did and once I get the software and get to play around with it I'll get the hang of it. THANK YOU NEIGHBOR for giving me the quick tutorials.

MOVIE: Insomnia
It's a thinker that's for sure. You definitely have to pay attention closely because if you miss one or two details like I did that are crucial you'll be trying to piece things together the whole time. But definitely a good movie, interesting. Favorite part was the end (SPOILER) when Al Pacino's character tells Swank's character "not to lose her way" expressing one of the movies main themes about corruption and down ward spirals. Secondly I like how he says "he just want to sleep" not only representing his need for physical rest, but also the need to put to rest all the corruption and bad decisions that he has made.

TV SHOW: So You Think You Can Dance
Watched about 2 episodes. Nothing much to say except crazy girl who claims her father is "the original Ringo Star" is cray cray. Yea I said that already but forreal she was crazy....

That's all for today yalls!

The Beginning of Summer 2011!

Another summer has come which means its time to start up this blog again.

This blog is more for me to keep track of the things I do so that some day way way in the future I can be like what did I do the summer of 2011? Oh right...that's what I did. And of course to share it with people who would like to gain a little insight into the going ons in my life.

Also did I mention this summer each day I plan to watch a movie if not a movie then a bunch of television shows. I'm thinking some days I'll give it a grade, some days I'll give a few words to comment and other days I'll just list the movie title. Who knows..

Alright so a bit of a catch up...

SATURDAY 6/11
  • grocery shopped
  • did like almost a months worth of laundry and spent a fortune. it cost me a i think a total of $6 about...
  • caught up on glee and desperate housewives
MOVIE: When in Rome
Lacked depth. It was cute to watch and Josh D. definitely a hottie, but it all seemed to kind of happen really quickly. I don't feel like the characters or the relationships were fully developed.

SUNDAY 6/12
  • when to 3rd Street Promenade by myself (yay independence)
  • bought: bare essentials lip stain (charisma) and beige forever pencil skirt
  • returned: pretty brown purse with gold zippers that just didn't cut it, it couldn't fit all my stuff...
  • ate: frozen yogurt AND mcdonald's soft serve ice cream
  • also sent out a couple of apps
TV SHOW: Bones
Not quite done yet...but have about 3 more episodes til I'm done. Cried so badly when a character died on the show. SO BADLY...o goodness..
