Yellow Curry Chicken

HAPPY BIRHTHDAY DAD!!!

Cookster
Yay so what was great about this week was since I didn't get closing/night shifts I've been able to learn and practice my cooking each night.

Monday: I cooked Vietnamese noodles THIS time all by myself. YEA YA!

Tuesday: I cooked steamed bass with gai lan for veggies. Steamed bass wasn't all that fresh so didn't taste all that good. But I have learned the basics of how to steal of fish, season, cook and do all that jazz. WOO to basic fundamentals of cooking.

Wedesday: WAS gonna cook spaghetti but got a last minute call from JON TRAN and went out for Korean BBQ with Jon, Erin, Edwin and Timmy. It was very very good. We ate kalbi, pork spare ribs, chop chae, steamed egg and some pancakey egg things. SO STUFFED and after we went to Polly Anns we're I got green tea ice cream! SO good.

Thursday: For my dad's birthday together we cooked YELLOW CURRY CHICKEN! and collee (sp?) flower and brocolli for veggies. The curry was pretty good if I say so myself and I basically made it all by myself. My dad just helped be cut the chicked and dump things in, but other than that ALL ME! My cooking skills are improving. And it is the one thing I can say I've been consistent with and having the most progress with out of my whole to do list.

YUP that is it for now. Tootles. Again happy birthday DAD! (he'll never read this but you know it's the thought that counts)

Stealin from the street.

So I was going to post this blog Tuesday...but didn't get to it so here it is.

Tuesday was my dad off from WORK so spent the day doing some errands with my dad. Drove to Costco and did some grocery shopping. We also went to Mcdonald's for lunch and used our FREE frapp or smoothie coupon that my dad got from I want to say the Examiner...some free newspaper. Anyways, after all of that my dad had to do some apartment stuff which was near Dolores Park and we decided to walk around a bit for some air and "exercise". As we walked back to the car my dad takes someone's newspaper that was left at their front door. I don't know WHY my dad does this but he is always "stealing" newspapers. I told him,Dad that's stealing" and he always tells me, "They left it out there, it's not stealing. It's been out there for a while now." And he throws in that it's a free newspaper so I let it pass. Lucky for us in this bundle of free stolen newspaper was ANOTHER Mcdonalds smoothie/frapp coupon. WOOT. Ok to be clear at this point we had 3 coupons - 1 coupon that we just used + the 1 we just found. We keep walking and see another cluster of papers (outside of the plastic bag), by this time my dad recognizes this issue of the newspaper and looks and WA LAH another coupon. We are now at 4 coupons. Keep on walking and we stumble along another one and "steal" their coupon. All this time I wonder is this ethical? But justify it with it's a free newspaper and at least point we're only taking a coupon.

OK now here comes the good part. Well this happens in between finding coupon 4 and coupon 5. My dad stops to tie his shoe lace on the corner of the block next to a metal baracade thing, you know those things they use are parades or to block off roads? Well hanging on it was a brown circle scarf. And I was like hey....and ask do you think I can take this? To preface lately we've been seeing a lot of things people are leaving on the side walk for people to take near our block (I got a really nice coffee machine). My dad goes sure! And I was like but what is someone left it and they forgot it? Because obviously this was not a here take this I'm putting it outside of my house kinda thing. But my dad says well it's probably been there a long time because I forgot what he said it had something to do with it being the weekday and most people only going to this park usually during the weekend...And he says they probably won't come back to get it and if you don't take it it'll just sit there or someone else will. SO......I took it and it is in the wash.

So my question for all of yall is what is EXACTLY is stealing? How to you define it? Are there exceptions?

Just something to think about (p.s this has gotten me to consider creating a blog of random things i think about...i just MIGHT do it, but for now just the summer thing)

Jog, Make out sess in Old Navy & Shakespeare

(to clarify, make out sess was something I observed, so don't get too excited)

OKAY I am going to admit I suck at this whole blogging thing. Originally I wanted to write a blog a day for the summer. YEA not happening but here are my highlight since the last blog.

Working out/Driving
Tuesday I drove down to the Embarcadero with my Pops and then we jogged along the piers. Well ok we jogged for iono how long then I kinda was like DANG I am out of shape and told my dad I was tired and asked if we could just briskly walk, which is what we did. But HEY a little exercise is better than none at all right? So that was fun. We walked from Pier 27 to Pier 7ish I wanna say. My dad showed me pier 7 and told me about his childhood memories of fishing all day, catching 3 fish and about anchovies. This is the kind of relationship my dad and I have. I like to say we're close but it is in a very unique way, I can't really explain it. We're not close we're I can tell him about guys and stuff like that, yea that boat has kinda sailed long ago and any mention of feelings of that sort I just feel uncomfortable and awkward discussing. BUT I guess my point is, is I really enjoy hearing him tell me about what he did when he was a kid and showing me the sights. It's our way of bonding haha.

Today at work saw two people straight out MAKING OUT in Old Navy I was like dang....no shame. One couple right in the middle of the swim wear section SMACK DAB in the middle. The girl takes off his glasses, wraps her arms around and just starts smoochin on him. I was like wow...but kept on moving because I had a lot of clothes to run back from the fitting room. Later I saw yet another couple this time two ladies, a little more discretely making out but they saw me and I saw them, we made awkward eye contact. This whole thing got me to thinking people need to find better places to make out, I mean SERIOUSLY no one wants to see that.

Books books books
So I haven't officially decided BUT I think I might be giving up on 1984. I thought it was going to be interesting but it is really hard for me to read...I've gotten to 40 something pages and it really has yet to spark MUCH interest. The concept of this futuristic world IS interesting but there doesn't seem to be a story or plotline or is REALLY slow. I don't know if it is even worth it to waste my time. So I started reading Twelfth Night by Shakespeare. I am slightly cheating. I borrowed the No Fear Shakespeare version which has both the original text and on the page next to it a translation in "normal day english" I guess you can say. I was originally going to reach the original text and then use the translation for help if needed, but after 1984 I really just wanted to read, enjoy and make progress on a book. So I've been just reading the translation. What got me to reading this play was "She's the Man" which I found out was based on Twelfth Night. Reading the play right now the story is quite a bit different, but it is essentially still the same and a lot of the character's names are still the same. I completely understand changing the story they had to modernize it. So far I'm liking it, it kind of reminds me of "A Midsummer's Night Dream", I've never read it but I've seen the play like 3 times. One person loves this person, but then that person loves someone else and basically no one loves the right or same person.

Speaking of my reading today after work waiting for the bus this black guy goes you look so angry. I look up from my book and say what? And he said you look so angry reading your book like your eye brows, demonstrating that I was furrowing them very intensely. I told him I didn't realize, but it was probably true I do tend to wrinkle a lot when I'm focusing on something. Then he asks me what I'm reading and then asks me what does shakespeare mean? And I told him he was a famous playwright. He asks me the question again and the way he was asking it was like he thought it was an adjective or something. It was weird...and I was really confused, luckily my bus came and I got on. Iono if he was genuinely just trying to strike up a conversation or hitting on me I really don't know because I am bad at picking up on social cues like that. But mm yea..ok that is it.

MAO POO POO!!

Cooking MMMMM
So today I cooked MAO POO POO with my mommy. Ok so it actually called Mao Po Tofu or Dow Fu. Anyways, what a quick, easy, cheap and yummy dish. It only took a total of about 20 minutes of cutting everything and cooking it all together. All the main ingredients, which includes the pork, tofu and onions only cost about $3. You can't beat that. So yea for delicious cooking.

Driving
I've been driving a little each day. Yesterday went to my mom's coworker's daughter's wedding. The food was SO GOOD. HELLA good lobster that was buttery and mmm. PLUS it was the least messy lobseter or crustacian (sp?) for that fact. My mom and I sat next to this lady that was old and I guess did know proper table manners? But everyone was tactful and sort of just turned a blind eye. This was a chinese banquet and they survey all the food family style on the round turn table, and as each dish came she would just either 1.) grab the food with her hand and put it on her plate 2.) use her used fork, poke at each piece and then finally take one 3.) take her duck bun and wipe the platter for some extra sauce. Yes...I had to hold in my laughter. But anyways DRIVING so the banquet was in Emeryville and I drove there :O it made me realize that I need more practice driving on freeways. With all the signs to read and especially when there are lots of exits and lots of different lanes going different places I was getting really confused. It was a good thing we had my NEW NAVIGATION SYSTEN (thanks mommmy and daddy for my belated birthday gift) because it had to reroute us a few times. oOoo but I am getting better I think with parking in my garage which is not easy. Slowly I am practicing my driving, I just really hope I am ready by the time it's time to go back to school.

Painting
I started slowly to draw my landscape slowly...that is it for now on that

WORK
So ok I have discovered that I am destined to be injured at work. Injuries to date are as listed:
  1. Deep butt scratch near my right elbow from card boxes that I had to unload at 5am. I think there is going to be a scar...
  2. On my other arm near my left elbow is a dim sized really gross looking bruise. This was from attempting to imprint a demagnatized credit card.

What's next? We shall see...

Notice how I have yet to blog about working out? AIYAH....

celebration at shabu house

OI.....

TODAY

training training trainings, videos, videos, videos

THEN

ate at Shabu House with family for my mom's birthday!!!! SOO delicious and I am currently STILL full. YUM kobe beef and green tea ice cream. The owner led us out the restaurant my whole family was confused. We were like is he kicking us out....he led us around the corner and I looked at my brother and said, "This is kinda sketchy". It was like he was leading us to the back of an alley to beat us up or something. He continues to lead us up stairs to an EXTENSION of teh restaurant, who knew right?! All the times I've gone there I never know it existed. We were seated next to this HUGE rowdy party who were drinking A LOT and really crazy. They were a bit annoying but also sort of amusing near the end. I eased dropped and the party had order a lot of cans of soda thinkig it was included in the all you can eat and drink but supposedly not. The party left with this girl head back, limp, carried out by a guy. Her friends yelled 21st BIRTHDAY!!!! WOOO and I was just like uhhhhhh.....wow how classy ahha. But dang it made me think that girl and probably some of those people in that party were ONLY A YEAR OLDER THAN ME. I'm twenty it still hasn't hit me. I don't feel or act it at all. Sometimes I really wish I could stay a kid forever. I know there are limitations to freedom, but I really don't care. Being a kid is more care free, less responsibilities and as an adult I definitely think with the freedom you gain comes the responsibilities of adulthood (taxes, bills, insurance, career etc). By the way little fact about me one of my favorite PLAYS not movies PLAYS is Peter Pan if you take the time to watch or read it and really think about what the play is about, the message and the underlying truth of it all it's actually I think pretty great. As an adult we do become more constrained in our lives and in our behavior, we learn from society the norms so we no longer blurt out "HEY THAT GUY IS FAT" because we know that is rude, but a young kid doesn't know that. As we become adults our brains because more and more dictated by rules, expectations...our brains become rational, logical, responsible. WELL for the most part, there are exceptions of course. ANYWAYS that was a HUGE tangent. Gotta head to bed I have work at 5am :/ yikers!!! HAPPY BIRHTDAY MOTHER I know you won't be reading this but I LOVE YOU and I hope you had a fun day turning however old I have lost track..

Eclipse and 1st official solo drive

Crusin solo

So if you haven't noticed yet anything pertaining to one of the "to do's" on my list will be italicized. So today was the first time that I drove completely by myself no one in the car :O Well...if wasn't that big of a distanced but STILL its a start. If any of you know Daly City Home Depot and 280 Metro basically ahha I drove from Home Depot's parking lot to 280 Metro's parking lot and parked to go to Joanns...I both pulled out AND parked into a spot. Anyways hopefully more blogs of driving conquest. So far the area of driving that my dad says I need to work most on is 1.) speed control 2.)being more observant of what is around me...

Ok enough of that so tonight went to see Eclipse with my bff since EVERS (kindergarten). Movie was definitely MUCH better than the 2nd one which was a no brainer because the 3rd book was better and there's more plot to create a movie. The movie was sweet, funny and entertaining. Here are my thoughts:
  1. Kristen Stewart SOO had a wig and I could not stop starring at her hair line. In some scenes her hair looked nice in others really fake.
  2. Alice and Jasper SO Cute as a couple!
  3. Jasper's southern accent made me DIE, could not stop laughing. I was like huh?
  4. Wolves = "It's so fluffy I'm gonnnna DIEEEEEEE" -- as quoted by despicable me
  5. Jacob's line: "I'm hotter than you" SO TRUE!
  6. Edward's line: "Does he own a shirt" HA! and he is fine without one....
  7. LMBO at the whole Bella punch in the face
  8. Left volturi who was all giddy and smiley looking while the all the others were stern and grim looking.
  9. Boy sitting in front of us turned around and waved at us. SUPER CUTE!

Tried to be slightly vague hope this didn't spoil the movie for anyone. But YEA good movie and can't wait for teh next 2 YAY!!!!
